PRISM, THE RESTORATIVE JUSTICE MINISTRY of the diocese that provides chaplaincy services to Los Angeles County facilities, will present “Building Beloved Community: A Vision of Unity,” featuring Javier Stauring and guests, on Saturday, Oct. 19, 6 – 9 p.m. at Church of Our Saviour, 535 West Roses Road, San Gabriel.
The event, a fundraiser for Prism’s jail ministries, will feature a wine reception, dinner and keynote address by Javier Stauring, a founding member of Healing Dialogue and Action. He has spent his entire career accompanying young people in the juvenile justice system, survivors of crime, and families of both. He has received international recognition for his life’s work, including commendation by World’s Children’s Prize in Sweden for his advocacy work with incarcerated youth and victims of crime. He is also the first United States citizen to receive the international award from Human Rights Watch.
