This week the government ordered our Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles refugee resettlement agency, IRIS Interfaith Refugee & Immigration Service, to suspend all resettlement work, including for our 46 most recently arrived clients, many from Afghanistan and Ukraine.

Executive director Troy Elder writes that they include “nine refugee families who arrived in the last 30 days—families who, after years of waiting and fleeing horrific conditions of violence overseas, finally reached safety here, only to face yet another crisis.”

Founded 20 years ago, IRIS has helped more than 12,000 refugees and immigrants start new lives in our community. We’re committed to continuing our work.

Scrambling to locate other sources of support while we await more word from Washington, IRIS has established an Emergency Fund. Please join me in making a donation today.
