(Photos: My friend for 30 years, from when he first reached out to me at the Nixon library from his perch as president of the Orange County Churchill Society, later at St John Chrysostom Church, Andy Guilford visited me on Monday at St. Paul’s Commons, Echo Park. As a U.S. District Court judge, he loved showing people the Churchill, Martin Luther King, Jr., and baseball knickknacks in his Santa Ana 
chambers. He was always the first to volunteer to swear in new citizens en masse. If we’re lucky, he’ll post a picture or two in the comments. Here he’s photographing a photo on my office wall of the famous crossroads in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Afterwards, we repaired to Philipe’s downtown for French dip and political conversation.
