Toni Rae Bruno Taix was born July 7, 1944, in Los Angeles, where she died May 1, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
She is survived by her loving family: her brother, the Rt. Rev. J. Jon Bruno, and sister-in-law, Mary Bruno of Pasadena; her niece, Jonelle Bruno; two nephews, Philip Bruno, and his wife, Mary Bannon Bruno, Brent Woodrich and his wife, Andrea Woodrich; seven great nephews and one great niece; also survived by Michael Taix, and his wife, Karri Taix, six Taix grandchildren, and by many friends.
A resident of Pasadena, Toni Rae was predeceased by her beloved husband, Raymond M. Taix, longtime proprietor of the family restaurant, Taix, in Los Angeles.
An attorney for more than 40 years, Toni Rae was a partner in the Los Angeles firm Dwyer, Daly, Brotzen & Bruno, having served previously with Chase Rotchford, Drukker & Bogust, Los Angeles, and with the state attorney general’s office in Los Angeles. A highlight of her career came in 1972 when she presented a brief before the U.S. Supreme Court, and won her case.
A graduate of USC Law School and Cal State Los Angeles, Toni Rae was born to Dorothy and Joseph Bruno in Los Angeles.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on May 7 in the mausoleum chapel at Calvary Cemetery, Los Angeles, where interment followed.
