I’m pretty sure that the only event in Pasadena on Saturday afternoon displaying a portrait of Charles III was the spring reception for local members of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem.

An Anglican and Episcopal offshoot of the Knights of Malta, the order, of which the Rt. Rev. Ed Little and I are members, supporters eye hospitals and clinics in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza. I sponsored Bishop Little. Leadership expert Jim Terzian, a stalwart of the order and the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, sponsored me several years ago. Admission requires the British sovereign’s signature. So we have that going for us. Which is nice.

The organization includes those with a heart for the Holy Land who view events from a healthy range of perspectives. We were of one accord praying urgently for war’s end in Gaza.
