God of righteousness and love, if your spirit infused the spirit of United States independence, it was not for the sake of one country or the several states but every soul they comprise. We perfect the union by securing freedom and justice for all. The only tool you give your faithful people for our work is self-sacrificial care for the needs and interests of others. To see all to whom we are obligated as your servants, give us grace that the eyes of our hearts may overlook every frontier of difference and doctrine, every grievance and grudge, in our nation and in all our neighborhoods.
