Gracious God, Trayvon Martin, who would have turned 30 today, was nine when he saved the life of his father, Tracy, by dragging him from their burning apartment. You knew Trayvon’s courage and his dreams of taking flight as a pilot. His killer thought he looked suspicious while walking home from the store. May we learn from this injustice, which still scars our nation’s soul, always to strain to see one another as you do, especially when fear and prejudice threaten to distort our vision. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
