Since Kathy and I don’t live with other members of our family, Holy Week, Easter, and Christmas end up embodying both the promise and reality of heaven — especially when folks show up unexpectedly. Going on six, granddaughter Harriet is on spring break this week, so her mom, Valerie, brought her and her little brother, Silas, for 24 hours of sheer fun.
Harriet drew, and perhaps discovered, the cards you need to win at Candyland in three moves. And guitar fans will appreciate this. Almost 30 years ago I bought a Tommyhawk travel guitar, handmade by the late Tom Barth. He advertised in the back of “Acoustic Guitar” magazine. It’s tuned so that when you play an E chord, it comes out as an A. Word on the web is that there are only 300 Tommyhawks — and turns out it’s Harriet-sized!
