You meet the most amazing people around the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, especially Canon David Eisen, my friend since college and the diocese’s outside legal counsel, who has been battling health challenges and making good progress, thanks in part to pastrami and fries from the Hat and breakfast burritos from Lucky Boy… colleagues from St. Paul’s Commons, Echo Park and Episcopal Communities & Services, helping Kathy and me, as we downsize, find happy homes for a quarter century’s tchotchkes; if you’re in the neighborhood, and you see it on my big conference table, it’s yours!…my colleague from the Diocesan Investment Trust board, Peter C. Brockett, spotted in the lobby of the Jonathan Club in Los Angeles…the Rev. Elizabeth Rechter, former executive director of Stillpoint and rector of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Laguna Beach, who suggested a cup of coffee just to compare notes on and give thanks for our shared ministry…the brilliant new acting dean of Bloy House, The Episcopal Theological School at Los Angeles, Eric Miller…old friends April Grayson Talton and Canon Gail Urquidi…and friends of All Saints Episcopal Church on Saturday night at Pasadena’s University Club, raising funds for the All Saints Safe Haven ministry, which has helped 71 people find permanent housing.
