The Rev. Alfonso Sanchez, assistant priest at St. Michael’s Church in Anaheim, died January 30, 2008 during a brief hospitalization. He was 67.
His gifts of evangelism, pastoral care, and friendship will be greatly missed across the diocese, and especially in the Anaheim community where he served since 2002.
Survivors include his wife, Maria de la Luz, and their three adult children, Alfonso Jr., Rodolfo and Griselda.
Father Alfonso was ordained in the Diocese of Los Angeles, to the diaconate in 2002 and the priesthood in 2003. He completed his theological studies at the Anglican Seminaro San Andres in Mexico City. Previously he served as a lay minister in congregations of this diocese, including the Cathedral Center Congregation of St. Athanasius.
