Almighty and ever living God, source of all wisdom and understanding, be present with those who take counsel today, during the 129th annual convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, for the renewal and mission of your Church. Teach us in all things to seek first your honor and glory. Guide us to perceive what is right, and grant us both the courage to pursue it and the grace to accomplish it; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

(Photos: My scrapbook from convention’s opening dinner last night at the Riverside Convention Center, where our special guests included the archbishop of Mexico, the Most Rev. Enrique Treviño, and our keynoter, the Rev. Dr. Carter Heyward of the Philadelphia 11, and where brand new canons were made of Canon Marjorie Cooley, the Rev. Canon Richard Estrada, and the Very Rev. Canon Kay Sylvester. Guided by the Holy Spirit and counseled by colleagues, I have the humbling honor of conferring the distinction each year on those who have rendered meritorious service to the whole diocesan community.)
