After my visitation this morning at St. James Episcopal Church Newport Beach, I lingered in Orange County for lunch with my old St John Chrysostom Church, Rancho Santa Margarita friends trumpeter Buddy Lang and one of his Camp Stevens stalwart sons, Michael, now doing high-level news content analysis for a firm in Austin; Holy Communion and a rich conversation with vibraphonist the Rev. Norm Freeman and his devoted companion and musical partner, violinist Katherine Cash; and dinner with my friend of 20 years and former dean and the former rector of St. Michael and All Angels in Corona Del Mar, the Rev. Canon Peter Haynes.
