Thanksgiving dinner is served at 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Paul’s Commons, Echo Park, and all are welcome.
Back in full swing after COVID, our traditional outreach to our Echo Park neighbors, especially those most in need, is chaired by Canon Luis Garibay, who’s been taking care of people in our neighborhood for a generation, and the amazing Dolores DeAngelis of St. Athanasius Church, shown washing the celery tonight. You’ll also see our colleagues Bernardo Lopez and Julie Kelly with our famous Mile of Bread Crumbs.
Joining the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles and St. Athanasius as sponsors are Seeds of Hope, Friday Foodbank, Parkview Living, our St. Paul’s co-tenants the Immaculate Heart Community, and Nefesh, our resident Jewish worship community, which is roasting over 25 turkeys.
Volunteers (50 in all will be on board) have distributed invitations in English and Spanish all over the neighborhood. I’ll be by Thanksgiving morning to say grace. If you’d like to make a donation to support this annual ministry, mail your check to Canon for Common Life Bob Williams at EDLA, 840 Echo Park Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90026.
Happy Thanksgiving — and please share this message!
