Rob Radtke, president of Episcopal Relief & Development, invites the organization’s network representatives and friends in the Diocese of Los Angeles to a reception with the Rt. Rev. John H. Taylor on Friday, Sept. 27, 6 p.m. at The DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton LAX, 1985 E. Grand Avenue, El Segundo 90245. Dress is business casual; beverages and hors d’oeuvres will be served. The event will mark the launch of “One Thousand Days of Love,” a $3 million grassroots church-wide fundraising campaign dedicated to expanding Episcopal Relief & Development’s global programs improving the lives of children up to age six. The campaign started on Sept. 4 and will run for 1,000 days, ending May 31, 2022.

Episcopal Relief & Development also will hold a 2019 campaign training event on Friday, Sept. 27, beginning at 3 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 28, concluding at 3 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel. This meeting is an opportunity for those interested in or actively engaged in the One Thousand Days of Love campaign to gain a more in-depth knowledge of how to organize and run a successful campaign for individuals, congregations, and dioceses, and to increase their understanding of Episcopal Relief & Development’s programs with children. Episcopal Relief & Development will cover the cost of lodging and meals; individual participants are asked to cover travel expenses and incidentals at the hotel.

Research shows that the first 1,000 days for children are critical in setting a foundation that affects their ability to grow, learn and thrive over their entire lives. Around the world, 155 million children under five are stunted due to inadequate nutrition and health care. Episcopal Relief & Development works with communities to ensure that children have access to food, clean water, and quality health care.
