In response to suggestions made during the 2018 meeting of Diocesan Convention, Bishop John Harvey Taylor has announced presentations on Middle East issues to be held at three locations across the diocese during March.

Sponsored by the Middle East Committee of the Program Group on Global Partnership and the Order of the Jerusalem Cross, the presentations are part of a national tour by Churches for Middle East Peace.

Bishop Taylor will host the first panel on Friday, March 29 at St. James’ Episcopal Church, 1325 Monterey Road, South Pasadena 91030, beginning with an informal reception at 6:30 p.m. and continuing with the panel discussion, 7 – 8:30 p.m. The second panel will be at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 4400 Barranca Pkwy, Irvine 92604, on Saturday, March 30, with a reception at 9:30 a.m. and presentation from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The final panel discussion will be on March 30 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1500 State Street, Santa Barbara 93101, with a reception at 6:30 p.m. and the panel discussion from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Panelists will include Suzann Mollner, executive director of Beirut and Beyond, a Palestinian refugee support organization; and Obada Shtaya, formerly of One Voice Movement, now with Zimam, an organization empowering young Palestinian leaders. CMEP Outreach Director Sara Burback and Development Director Alison Glick will complete the panel.

The Order of the Jerusalem Cross is open to Episcopal pilgrims to the Diocese of Jerusalem and others who have an interest in the region.
