THE GATHERING – a Space for Asian Pacific American Spirituality invites the diocesan community to a panel conversation and discussion on the impact of immigration on the Asian Pacific American communities and the church on Sunday, Oct. 13, 4 – 6 p.m. at the Cathedral Center of St. Paul, 840 Echo Park Avenue, Los Angeles 90026.
“One thing that Asian Pacific Americans have in common is the impact of immigration and emigration on individuals, families, and communities,” says the announcement. “Whether arriving as immigrants or refugees, first generation or fourth generation, documented or undocumented, Asian Pacific Americans have experiences with lasting impact emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Come join us as we engage panelists in conversation and hear each other’s stories on this topic.”
The panel conversation will feature staff from Interfaith Refugee and Immigration Service (IRIS) as well as Betty Hung, staff director at the UCLA Labor Center and co-chair of the board of directors of Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE). Peter Huang, Episcopal priest and marriage & family therapist, will moderate the conversation.
