The Bishop’s Guild Tea, an autumn tradition in the Diocese of Los Angeles, will return on Saturday, Oct. 13, 3 – 5 p.m. at St. Francis’ Episcopal Church, 2200 Via Rosa, Palos Verdes Estates 90274.
The tea is the annual fundraiser for the Bishop’s Guild, a 101-year-old organization that offers scholarship support to seminarians of the diocese. Advance tickets are $25 each, and may be bought in advance here. At the door, tickets will be $30. Several gift baskets will be raffled; tickets at $5 each or 5 for 20 will be sold at the event.
Tea will be served on the loggia overlooking the property, and guests will be able to explore the gardens and meditation spots to find the perfect place to linger alone or with friends. The ECW of St. Francis, co-hosts for this event, will also offer docent-led tours of the original chapel, built in 1951 and designed after the churches found in the little hill towns surrounding Assisi, with Gothic arches framing the choir, sanctuary and altar. The 13th Century Byzantine marble baptismal font as well as the wooden pulpit and lectern were purchased in Venice, Italy.
