By the grace of God, five amazing ministers will be ordained and consecrated in the Sacred Order of Deacons on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St John’s Episcopal Church: Tim Hartley, Susanne Wright-Nava, Stacey Forte-Dupre, Brian Tucker, and Ryan Macias. I had the blessing of meeting with them this morning during their pre-ordination retreat at St. Paul’s Commons, Echo Park, organized by the Revs. Jon Feuss (pictured third from left) and Kate Cress. We reflected on the precious and unique moment of their ordination, occurring just when we need them. They are prophets of Christ’s unity, love, and justice in a world that has temporarily forgotten how hungry it is for just these things.
