Gracious God, in the immediate aftermath of today’s horrifying events in Pennsylvania, we pray for the full recovery of former President Trump and give thanks that he was not more seriously injured. We pray for others at the scene who may have been hurt or killed. We pray that those responsible for this reprehensible act of violence will be swiftly brought to justice. By your grace, may we proceed from this dark day resolved to live our collective political life with less rancor and in a spirit of peace and mutual understanding, remembering that we are one nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
