A few shots (not all by me) from this morning’s confirmation service at St. John’s Cathedral in Los Angeles, when 40 people from nine churches in the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles took the reckless step of promising to pour themselves out as apostles of the Risen Christ, glorifying God and caring for God’s people. The Rev. Kay Sylvester, who brought a contingent from St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Tustin, CA, was celebrant, the Very Rev. Canons Mark Kowalewski and Daniel Ade and their Cathedral colleagues our gracious hosts. I preached and presided during the confirmation rite. Among the candidates were five from my old hang St John Chrysostom Church, Rancho Santa Margarita; I’d presided at four of their baptisms.
