I join my colleague Susan Russell in worrying not so much about AI in view of Siri’s continued difficulty when taking dictation. Here’s my updated “As Siri gets her church on” anthology (leaving aside that she still thinks my spouse’s name is “Kathe” and mine “Jon”). The good news is that Siri gets Salaam and Kobayashi Maru the first time. On the other hand:

Merry Christmas, Canon Bob is most definitely not “Merry Christmas, cannon bomb.”

It’s chasuble, not “child support.”

It’s Episcopal, not “a Piscopo.”

It’s my chaplain, not “Mike Chapman.”

It’s Advent and definitely, absolutely, categorically not “add vent.”

It’s deanery assembly, not “Dena deassembly.” Poor Dena!

It’s canon, not “Canaan” (although she’s getting warm!).

It’s may she rise in glory, not “Miss you, Rice and Gloria.”

It’s call to convention, not “Coulter convention.”

It’s a bishop and dean, not “Bishop Hannity.”

It’s Lenten blessings, not “lunch and blessings” (especially if you gave up lunch for Lent!).

It’s vicar, not “victor.”

It’s Great Vigil of Easter, not “Virgil.”

It’s letters dimissory, not “leathers the mystery” (though in fairness, that’s a hard one)

It’s medievalist, not “me the evilest.”

It’s Church of the Holy Sepulcher, not “holy stuff with her.”

It’s Christmas creche, not “Christmas crash.”

It’s notwithstanding, not “not with Stan.”
