Meghan Tumilty has been appointed executive director of IRIS, the Interfaith Refugee and Immigration Service, a ministry of the Diocese of Los Angeles, Bishop J. Jon Bruno has announced.

Tumilty received her bachelor degree with honors from the University of Arizona and her law degree from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis. During her university and law school studies she worked at the Arizona Children’s Advocacy Center, providing investigative and advocacy services to child abuse victims. She also assisted refugees seeking asylum through the St. Thomas Law School Legal Services Clinic.

Tumilty was preceded by interim director the Rev. Catherine Wagar, who served since the retirment of former executive director the Rev. Pam Tyler.
