The Damascus Gate of the Old City of Jerusalem, familiar to Holy Land pilgrims, was shown on Friday in a Washington Post video as a prayer site for Muslims in east Jerusalem.
Almighty God, you are the author of all that was and shall be; and we, all your people, knowingly or not, are co-creators of all the moments of our times. It is in our power to protect and assist Gaza’s internal refugees. It is in our power to confine military strikes to military targets. It is in our power to use economic and diplomatic leverage to encourage Israel to provide for its security without exacting vengeance. It in our power to pray without ceasing so that, in all our lives, at home and close to home, we can by your grace and mercy be co-creators of your kingdom of peace and love.
