My album from Campbell Hall’s commencement ceremonies last night at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, my last opportunity to play my accustomed role of offering a benediction and presenting the Bishop’s Award for spirituality.
Over 130 were graduated. For this year’s award, the amazing chaplains, the Revs. Joey Courtney and Norman Hull, nominated USC-bound Fiori Chung, founder of the school’s Welcome Alliance, justice advocate, and student journalist. The chaplains also worked closely with the three eloquent senior speakers, who stressed the ethics of welcome, curiosity, and belonging.
After the ceremony, head of school the Rev. Canon Julian Bull and Katie Bull took Joey, Norm and Susan Hull, and Kathy and me to dinner, where all the problems of the world were solved.
Julian is also shown with his brilliant associate head of school, Dr. Christopher Dennis, whom I’d gotten to know in the spring when he presented at a National Association of Episcopal Schools justice and equity conference in Montgomery.
