Almighty God, creator of worlds: Humanity has new cause to repent of our sin of creating the means of destroying ourselves. Without nuclear weapons, his armies outgunned and outmanned, Putin would not have dared invade Ukraine. For fear the war might escalate into an unimaginable catastrophe, the Atlantic alliance cannot do all it otherwise could to help Ukraine’s people. Unless we want to live in a world where tyrants beat down the innocent with impunity, our leaders will again make nuclear weapons reduction and eventual abolition a paramount goal.
