My scrapbook from this morning’s annual springtime Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles confirmation service at St. John’s Cathedral in Los Angeles, designed for missions and parishes that don’t want wait for a bishop to come calling. Nine churches brought over 20 candidates for confirmation, reception, and reaffirmation. The Very Rev. Anne Sawyer, interim dean and priest in charge, presided at Holy Eucharist; the Rev. Dominique Nicolette Piper was deacon of the mass; I preached; and the Holy Spirit came down and completed the sacramental act of making fully fledged Episcopalians. Under the direction of Christopher Gravis, the St. John’s Choir was sublime, as usual. Cathedral staffers Kyle Black and Kelsey Delgado saw to myriad details, including a gracious reception. Many photos were taken by all!
