My scrapbook from Passover Shabbat last night at Ahavat Torah, which nests at St. Bede’s Episcopal Church in Mar Vista thanks to the hospitality of the Rev. Jennifer Wagner Pavia and her fellow parish leaders. Rabbi Michal Morris Kamil and Jennifer met at a mayor’s breakfast a week after the Oct. 7 attacks. Last night we prayed for Israeli hostages, represented by photos at our tables, and for Palestinians killed or injured in the counterinsurgency. The youngest Ahavat Torah member present was a guitarist whose influences include Guns N’ Roses. Among the oldest were lifelong peace activists and supporters of Standing Together, a grassroots organization of Jewish and Palestinian citizens of Israel promoting peace and justice. Read more here.
