The Rev. Dr. Fennie Hsin-Fen Chang, vicar of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Hacienda Heights, CA, and the church’s accompanist, Janice M. Lee, were among those attending a prayer vigil tonight at First AME Church of Los Angeles, called to honor the victims of the racist murders last weekend in Buffalo and Laguna Woods. Fennie and Janice have family ties to the Taiwanese Presbyterian congregation in Orange County.

Also aboard were the Rev. Daniel Tamm and Dr. Lo Sprague, president of The Guibord Center – Religion Inside Out. Our keynoter was Mayor Eric Garcetti, our host First AME’s senior pastor, “J” Edgar Boyd.

The organizers were executive director Capri Maddox, Joumana Silyan-saba, and Pastor David Price and their colleagues at the Los Angeles Department of Civil and Human Rights, who invited me to say a prayer in recognition of the suffering of victims’ family members and friends.
