On the third day of Christmas, a three-person summit in Fontana to begin to plan an abundant future for St. Luke’s Outreach Ministry Center, where San Marino-born the Rev. Jim Maronde has been director for 12 years.
A clinical psychologist, Jim provides spiritual direction for nearly a dozen 12-step meetings a week and offers a Wednesday evening service of Holy Eucharist.
The challenge and opportunity for Jim, Fontana resident Canon Clare Zabala-Bangao, our other Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles colleagues, and me is keeping Episcopal-Anglican mission and ministry going in this growing community in the years to come. An expert in 21st century suburban America’s deep need for spiritual and physical healing, especially from the scourge of addiction, Jim says that it will be a blessing to do this work together in the name of St. Luke the physician.
