Bishop Diane Jardine Bruce takes part in the consecration of a new bishop in the Northern Philippines.

Bishop Suffragan Diane Jardine Bruce represented the Diocese of Los Angeles and The Episcopal Church at the ordination and installation of the Rev. Nestor Dagas Poltic as third bishop of the Diocese of North Central Philippines on May 1 at the Cathedral of the Resurrection in Magsaysay, Baguio City.

Bruce, who was a co-consecrator and a concelebrant at the ordination Eucharist, presented the new bishop with a Book of Common Prayer.

It was, she reported on Facebook, “a great honor. I am humbled by this great day.”

Bruce’s visit to the Philippines, during which she also visited several congregations, followed a stay in Korea, where she consulted with church leaders about mutual ministries.

“The joy of reconnecting and focusing on joint work and new opportunities for mission and ministry has truly been invigorating,” she wrote. “Partnership, cooperation, mutual learning have been hallmarks of this time.”

She traveled in the company of Bruce Woodcock, Asia Pacific Partnership officer for the Episcopal Church.
