Bishop Suffragan Diane Jardine Bruce and the deans of St. John’s Cathedral invite the diocesan community to a presentation and facilitated community conversation on “Finding Our Connections Across Cultures” on Saturday, January 26, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

This event, sponsored by the cathedral and The Gathering – a Space for Asian American Spirituality, will feature Heidi Kim (pictured above left), staff officer to Presiding Bishop Michael Curry on Racial Reconciliation, and the Rev. Chuck Wynder, Jr. (pictured below left), staff officer to the presiding bishop on Social Justice and Advocacy Engagement.

As the racially diverse Diocese of Los Angeles seeks to “become beloved community,” The Gathering works to build bridges, deepen understandings, and find connections across cultures. This event will help provide tools for building curiosity and understanding to overcome assumptions and stereotypes that might keep us from knowing each other and ministering to the diverse communities surrounding our parishes and ministries. This event seeks to engage not only leaders in New Community ministries (formerly know as multicultural ministries) but those in the wider diocesan community who desire to better understand racial and cultural dynamics in ministry.

All are welcome to attend. The event is free and includes continental breakfast. For reservations, contact the Rev. Peter Huang at peter.huang@stfrancispalosverdes.org, or the Rev. Yein Kim at ykim@ladiocese.org. St. John’s Cathedral is located at 514 W. Adams Blvd., Los Angeles 90007.
